Ramadan starts
It is prohibited to eat, drink and smoke in public from sunrise to sunset for the whole month, the ninth in the Islamic calendar. The first day was yesterday, Sep 13. In the workplace, we have the pantry for drinking and eating but the pigpen for smoking is exposed to the public. So how?
The upside is that there are shorter working hours. There may be more if we relax and try to understand the occasion. Let's start here: http://islam.about.com/od/ramadan/f/ramadan_faq.htm
Iftar shahy.

Cloudy hands
I’ve just come from my first session of Dr. Chen’s Taichi class. There were 4 of us in the batch but we were joined by students from previous batches at the breakwater of the Jumeirah Open Beach. There’s a paved circular area there, at the center of which, we formed a circle and followed Dr. Chen’s instructions. We did a lot of “cloudy hands” for our first lesson, where we waved our hands in slow-mo like clouds in the sky. “Cloudy hands” is one of the forms in the 24-form simplified Yang style Taichi Chuan that we will learn in 3 months. Classes are held Sundays and Wednesdays. (Got to move my Wednesday Safa jog to another day.)
You can find Dr. Chen’s website here: http://www.chenqiang.net/taichi.html.
